Zawiye —
Redefining Urdu for Modern Design

Type Design
Zawiye is the first complete Urdu typeface from my self-initiated venture to digitalize and beautify the Urdu language. The name, which translates to “angles” in Urdu, reflects the font’s defining character—it breaks away from the traditional calligraphic, free-flowing script and instead embraces a structured, geometric style reminiscent of Kufic script.

The typeface features a full set of Urdu letters that are designed to combine seamlessly, resulting in visually balanced and modern letterforms. Unlike conventional Urdu fonts that rely on half-letters and complex ligatures, Zawiye works almost like building blocks—much like Legos—allowing words and sentences to be formed quickly and consistently.

Let’s collaborate & create great things. Say hello.
